With 2,278 runs under his belt, Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar tops the list. The legendary Indian batter amassed those runs at a sensational average of 56.95 having made 45 appearances in World Cup history.

Former Australia skipper Ricky Ponting occupies the second spot on the list of highest run scorers in the ODI World Cups. Ponting has 1,743 runs to his name having featured in 42 World Cup innings.

Ex-Sri Lanka cricketer Kumar Sangakkara finds himself at the third spot on this elite list of batters. The Sri Lanka wicketkeeper had scored 1,532 runs at World Cups in 37 matches.

Apart from Sachin, Ponting and Sangakkara, big names like Brian Lara, AB de Villiers, Chris Gayle, Sanath Jayasuriya, Jacques Kallis, Shakib Al Hasan and Tillakaratne Dilshan are also present on the list of top 10 highest run scorers in World Cup history.

Two former Indian pacers — Zaheer Khan and Javagal Srinath — claim seventh spot jointly on this list. Both Zaheer and Srinath bagged 44 wickets in the ODI World Cup.
