First, women’s compound archery team won a gold medal and then the men’s team joined in. In squash, Dipika Pallikal and Harinder Pal Singh Sandhu won their mixed doubles final to seal the yellow metal. Saurav Ghosal can add to India’s gold medal column when he competes in the men’s singles final in squash.
The day also witnessed exit for PV Sindhu in badminton while HS Prannoy came through a thrilling contest to assure the country of a medal.
On Wednesday, India’s tally went up by 12 medals to register a historic mark. As Deotale and Vennam bagged gold in the mixed team event, India recorded their best haul at any Asian Games ever. The count was taken up to 81 medals by the end of the day after the likes of Avinash Sable and Harmilan Bains won their second medals at these Games. Neeraj Chopra and Kishore Jena recorded a sensational one-two in javelin throw. And, the men’s and women’s 4x400m relay teams earned medals.
