Watch: Pakistan cricket team receives warm welcome in Ahmedabad, gets surprise in-flight celebration

After scripting history by chasing down 345 against Sri Lanka in the ICC ODI World Cup, the Pakistan cricket team has now reached Ahmedabad via Hyderabad for their all-important match against India on Saturday. As was the case in Hyderabad, Ahmedabad too extended a heartfelt welcome to the Pakistan team. Apart from all the hospitality in the hotel in Hyderabad, the cabin crew on their flight to Ahmedabad also commemorated their historic run chase by presenting a celebratory cake to honour their remarkable feat.

Ahmedabad, the city of warm hospitality, extended a cordial reception to the team as well. Upon their arrival at the hotel, the players were greeted with a cascade of flower petals, accompanied by the rhythmic beats of traditional dhols. They were also presented traditional scarves and the players walked in with dancers performing to welcome them.


Pakistan have not been at their best, but have still managed 2 wins in their last two matches. In their second match against Sri Lanka, their bowlers were taken to the cleaners as Sri Lanka posted 344 runs. Pakistan got off to a mediocre start when they lost both Imam-ul-Haq and Babar Azam, but then got the chase under control courtesy of a match-winning partnership between Abdullah Shafique and Mohammad Rizwan.

India, too, come into this match after having dominated both Australia and Afghanistan in their first couple of matches. This also gave a huge boost to their net run rate and India are now placed second in the points table.
