India face the Netherlands in their second and final warm-up match ahead of the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 on Tuesday at the Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram. India’s first warm-up match against England was washed out due to rain in Guwahati.
The Netherlands game will be the last opportunity for India to sort out their combinations ahead of their World Cup opener against Australia which will be played in Chennai on 8 October.
India’s playing XI is more or less sorted but there is confusion over a few spots like the inclusion of Ravichandran Ashwin and Ishan Kishan. With No 5 batter KL Rahul being the designated wicket-keeper, the No 4 position is the only spot where Kishan could get an opportunity but Shreyas Iyer is a hot favourite for that spot.
Also with Ravindra Jadeja already in the playing XI, including Ashwin will be a tough task for India but still, the management will look to give them ample opportunities in Thiruvananthapuram to have them ready for any chance that may arise in the future.
The warm-ups don’t have ODI status and teams are free to play as many players as they want.
