Asian Games 2023: India assured of 100 medals at Hangzhou 2022

India on Friday were assured of a minimum of 100 medals at the ongoing Asian Games 2023 in Hangzhou, China. Officially India have won 91 medals so far but nine more medals are confirmed which will take their tally to 100. This means that the 2023 edition will not only be India’s best ever in the history of the Asian Games but also the first time India will touch the three-figure mark in the medal tally.

India’s previous best tally of 70 medals had come in 2018.

It was Sonam Malik’s bronze in the women’s 62kg freestyle event that guaranteed 100 medals for India.

With 91 medals in their kitty, here are the other nine medals that India are assured of.

Compound Archery (3): Abhishek Verma and Ojad Pravin Deotale are scheduled to face off against each other in the men’s final on Saturday, guaranteeing two more medals for India. Jyothi Surekha Vennam has reached the women’s final.

Kabaddi (2): Both India men’s and women’s teams have reached the finals which will be played on Saturday.

Men’s hockey (1): India take on Japan in the final for a gold medal on Friday.

Badminton (1): Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty are assured at least of bronze as they play against Malaysia’s Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik in the semifinal on Friday.

Men’s cricket (1): India will face Afghanistan in the final on Saturday.

Bridge (1): The Indian men’s team is playing against Hong Kong in the final and will at least win a silver on Saturday.
