This is India’s best-ever performance at an Asian Games. Their previous best of 70 medals had come in 2018 in the Jakarta Palembang Games in Indonesia. On Friday, India won five medals to take their tally to 86.
India face defending champions Japan in the men’s hockey gold medal match. The Men in Blue take on Bangladesh in the men’s cricket semi-finals. The women’s and men’s kabaddi teams also feature in their respective semi-finals on Friday.
In archery, the women’s and men’s recurve teams will be taking part in the quarter-finals and later in the semi-finals if they progress.
