Other guest stars for the episode include Endgame directors Anthony and Joe Russo and actor Cobie Smulders, who plays Mariah Hill in the MCU. Smulders' husband Taran Killam and Youtuber Tal Fishman will also guest star.

While Feige’s character promises that his phone’s “doomsday app” will allow him to wreck all sorts of havoc, as the episode’s title suggests, Bart Simpson is shaping up to be the big bad.

According to Variety, Bart the Bad Guy will follow Bart who accidentally sees a new installment of the popular "Vindicator" superhero movie franchise before it comes out. Armed with spoilers, he's now the most powerful kid in all pop culture. And Bart being Bart, he leverages that power to become his own kind of super-villain: "Spoiler-Boy."

Enter the heroic movie executives (voiced by Russo Brothers), who attempt to save the day and prevent Bart from using those plot-spoiling powers to ruin the surprise.

The episode will air on Sunday, 1 March on Fox

Daniel Radcliffe says he will not play Harry Potter in Fantastic Beasts: Those films are doing just fine without us

Actor Daniel Radcliffe is not interested in reprising his iconic role of Harry Potter in the fantasy franchise's spin-off films, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.

The actor, who fronted the movie series created by JK Rowling for 10 years, said the new films are "doing fine" without the original characters.

Asked if he would return as Harry in the Fantastic Beasts series, Radcliffe told Variety, "I don't think so. I don't like say no to things, but it's not something that I'm rushing to do. I feel like those films have moved on and they're doing just fine without us. I'm happy to keep it that way."

"I like what my life is now. I'm not saying that I'll never go back into any franchise, but I like the flexibility that I have with my career now. And I don't want to get into a situation where I'm signed up for one series for years in advance," he added.

Based on Rowling's fantasy books of the same name, Harry Potter series translated into eight movie installments, released between 2001-11, and starred Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint in the lead.

A spin-off prequel series started with 2016's Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, also penned by Rowling, marking the beginning of the Wizarding World shared media franchise.

Led by Eddie Redmayne's Newt Scamander, the yet-to-be-titled third chapter will be released in 2021.

Brazilian city Rio De Janeiro will serve as the backdrop of the new film. Returning cast members include Jude Law, Johnny Depp, Ezra Miller, Alison Sudol, Dan Fogler and Katherine Waterston.

Radcliffe will be seen next in a thriller titled Escape from Pretoria, which is about a white anti-apartheid activist who escaped from one of South Africa's toughest jails. The film is based on Tim Jenkin's account of his dramatic escape from the notorious Pretoria Maximum Security Prison with his friend Stephen Lee in 1979.

Javed Akhtar praises Thappad, calls it a 'milestone of India cinema'; Anubhav Sinha, Taapsee Pannu react

Anubhav Sinha's latest directorial Thappad has been receiving praises from all quarters. Among the ones impressed with the film is lyricist and screenwriter Javed Akhtar, who took to Twitter to congratulate the team and said the film is 'one of the most sensitive, sensible and socially relevant film of recent times.' Congratulating the crew, Akhtar called Thappad as a 'milestone of India cinema'.

Starring Taapsee Pannu in the lead, the film seems to investigate the nitty-gritties of systematic oppression in even a "seemingly normal" marriage. Pannu essays the role of an educated, upper-middle-class woman who is forced to evaluate her relationship after being slapped by her husband, played by Pavail Gulati. Thappad chronicles her struggle as she files for a divorce petition and ventures on in her pursuit of justice.

Check out his post here

Taapsee rejoiced at the appreciation, responded to Akhtar's tweet in no time.

Sinha, best known for his thought-provoking social drama MulkArticle 15, also took a note of Akhtar's compliments.

Previously, veteran filmmaker Sudhir Mishra, producer Guneet Monga and actors Rajkummar Rao, Patralekhaa, Huma Qureshi, Ayushmann Khurrana and many others have also praised the film.

Co-produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, and Sinha, Thappad also stars Dia Mirza, Ratna Pathak Shah, Kumud Mishra, Tanvi Azmi, Maya Sarao among others.

India vs New Zealand: Virat Kohli and Co. fail with the bat once again as Black Caps take control of second Test

Christchurch: India's top-order frittered away a golden chance with another shoddy batting as New Zealand regained complete control after Mohammed Shami and Jasprit Bumrah's hostile fast-bowling spell had given the visitors a slender first-innings lead in the second Test on Sunday.

India's Cheteshwar Pujari reacts after he was out bowled by New Zealand's Trent Boult. AP

Shami (4/81 in 23.1 overs) and Bumrah (3/62 in 22 overs) were brilliant in their execution, dismissing New Zealand for 235 in 73.1 overs as they showed why they are one of deadliest fast bowling pair in Test match cricket.

However, India's top-order failed miserably once again as New Zealand bounced back, reducing India to 90 for six at stumps on day two as a three-day finish is on the cards.

India is now effectively 97 runs ahead with only four wickets in hand and it will take a miraculous effort to avert another series whitewash after the ODIs.

Trent Boult (3/12 in 9 overs) got Mayank Agarwal (3) and Cheteshwar Pujara (24) with conventional inswingers that tails into right-handers.

Prithvi Shaw (14) was out in familiar fashion, fending a short ball from Tim Southee, while skipper Virat Kohli's (14) indecisive footwork brought his downfall once again.

Vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane, who was hit on the helmet, paid the price for an ugly shot, while Umesh Yadav didn't survive a rampaging Boult after he was inexplicably sent in as nightwatchman when nearly half an hour was left.

A target of 250 in the fourth innings could well be a challenge for the Black Caps as there is still something in the track for the speed merchants despite batsmen getting a value for their shots.

India would have ideally hoped that skipper Kohli would end his dreadful tour of New Zealand with one big knock but it was not to be as Colin de Grandhomme trapped the Indian captain leg before with an off-cutter.

First two sessions belonged to Shami and Bumrah, who were nothing short of brilliant with their precision length, sideways movement and an occasional heavy ball that was slipped in between.

Ravindra Jadeja (2/22 in 10 overs) did exactly what was required. He also took a stunning acrobatic one-hander in the deep to dismiss Neil Wagner (21), which will be remembered for years to come.

Once Umesh Yadav (1/46 in 18 overs) provided the breakthrough removing Tom Blundell (30), it was Bumrah and Shami, who were relentless bowling that probing off-stump line which never let any of their batsmen settle.

Bumrah must have beaten the bat at least on 15 occasions, including that of opposition's only half-centurion Tom Latham (52 off 122 balls), who never looked settled during his stay.

The two deliveries that stood out during the second day's play was one by Bumrah that got rid of Kane Williamson (3) and other by Shami, who sent back Latham.

Bumrah bowled one with the angle that came back a shade and it seemed like Williamson was in two minds whether to withdraw the bat or play defensively. The half-hearted prod only resulted in a nick that went into Rishabh Pant's gloves.

In case of Latham, Shami beautifully set him up during his second spell of the morning. There were a few away going deliveries which he got thick outside edges.

Shami then bowled on the fourth stump and Latham shouldered arms to leave the ball and it turned out to be an error of judgement with the ball cutting back enough to peg the off-stump back.

Having got five wickets in the first session, India were back in the game and Bumrah got a couple within first few minutes after lunch as BJ Watling (0) and Tim Southee (0) were dismissed in a space of three deliveries.

Once de Grandhomme (26), who was playing a useful hand, was cleaned up by Jadeja, India did endure a frustrating one hour period in which Kyle Jamieson (49) and Wagner added 51 runs for the ninth wicket, something that would now come back to haunt the Indians.

Bangladesh vs Zimbabwe, Live Cricket Score, 1st ODI at Sylhet

Preview: Zimbabwe will play their first ODI since July 2019, before which they were clean swept in five of their last six bilateral series. They now face a stiff challenge against Bangladesh, who have defeated them in each of the last 13 matches.

The two teams come into the ODI series following a one-off Test where Zimbabwe were undone by Bangladesh's batting masterclass, where they went down by an innings and 106 runs. Former skipper Sean Williams returns to the fold for Zimbabwe. But they would need more from youngsters Brendon Taylor and Craig Ervine. They have a new ODI captain in Chamu Chibhabha, the all-rounder, who's been given the role on an interim basis.

The bowling line-up displays an unfamiliar look. The senior men Christopher Mpofu and Donald Tiripano will seek assistance from youngster Charlton Tshuma, who made his international debut in the Test. The spin department comprises of finger-spinners Tinashe Kamunhukamwe and Ainsley Ndlovu to go with the all-round abilities of Williams and Sikander Raza.

Bangladesh, despite the significant changes to their squad, seem to have enough firepower to maintain ascendancy. Mashrafe Mortaza returns and will lead the team for the last time in ODI cricket, as confirmed last week. They will miss the all-round services of Soumya Sarkar, who misses out for personal reasons, but the experienced trio of Tamim Iqbal, Mahmudullah and the in-form Mushfiqur Rahim round off a formidable batting core.

Taapsee Pannu in a still from Thappad

Thappad has received positive review from critics for its messaging and starting a conversation around the issue of intimate partner violence. Producer Prernaa Arora sentenced to six months imprisonment for contempt of court after failing to pay creditors due

The Bombay High Court has convicted Bollywood producer Prernaa Arora of contempt of court and sentenced her to imprisonment for six months, reports Hindustaan Times. Arora, who has produced movies such as Toilet: Ek Prem Katha and PadMan, was originally asked to surrender at the Azad Maidan police station in Mumbai before March 2 to serve the prison term.

However, she appealed to against the order before a division bench of the Bombay High Court, following which the court moved the date to 23 March. Reports also suggests that the judge has issued a non-bailable warrant for her arrest and directed the police to execute the warrant if she fails to surrender.

Prernaa Arora. Twitter @koimoi

The order comes after the proceedings initiated by Gothic Entertainment against KriArj Entertainment and its directors, Prernaa and Protima Arora for execution of a settlement reached before an arbitral tribunal. The producer had given the court an undertaking that she would repay Rs 1 crore of Rs 3 crore settlement, however, she failed to do so. Following which the court sentenced her six months of jail for aggravated contempt of court. According to Mumbai Mirror, Justice GS Kulkarni said, “Arora neither has any regard for the process of law nor for the orders of the court and consistently undermine the authority of the court.”

Several orders were passed on Gothic's application, one of which  directed KriArj and its directors to furnish list of their assets, annual returns, profit and loss accounts and balance sheets. However, Justice Kulkarni noted that the film producer did not comply with any of these orders and on 18 November, 2019 gave an undertaking to pay a sum of Rs. 3 crore to Gothic in instalments towards a full and final settlement.

On 5 February, 2020, Gothic notified the court that Prernaa Arora had breached the undertaking as well; the judge then issued a notice asking her why action for contempt of court should not be taken against her.

Previously, Prernaa was arrested in early December 2018 by the Economics Offences Wing (EOW) of Mumbai police. She had taken money from Vashu Bhagnani's firm Pooja Entertainment for exclusive rights of a film. She had, similarly, taken money from multiple investors promising each of them exclusive rights to the same film. None of these investors were told about the other leading to breach in contract, the Mumbai police official had said.

India vs New Zealand, Highlights, 2nd Test in Christchurch, Day 2, Full Cricket Score: Visitors lead by 97 runs in second innings at stumps

11:38 (IST)

What a day of Test cricket we witnessed. As many as 16 wickets fell through the course of the day's play, six of which are Indian. A score of 90/6 doesn't inspire much confidence and unless Vihari and Pant conjure up a magical partnership tomorrow, their chances of levelling the two-Test series look very difficult. Can't wait to see how the day unfolds on Monday. For now, it's a goodbye from us.

11:38 (IST)

Well, India are in a spot of bother here. They have thrown away the advantage as the pendulum has swung towards New Zealand at the fag end of the day. But from New Zealand's point of view, it is good to see Boult bowling at his usual best after being off coloured in the previous few innings. India have to bat out their skins tomorrow to get close to the 200-run mark.

11:36 (IST)

Cheteshwar Pujara dismissed by bowlers most times in Tests:

9 : Nathan Lyon
7 : James Anderson
4 : Stuart Broad, Josh Hazlewood, Ben Stokes, TRENT BOULT*

There were 16 wickets fell today - the most in a day’s play at this venue.

11:34 (IST)

After 36 overs,India 90/6 ( Hanuma Vihari 5 , Rishabh Pant (W) 1)

Boult rattles the stumps with a vicious inswinger once again, this time dismissing Yadav for 1 with India losing their sixth wicket in the process. Out walks Rishabh Pant at No 8, and he gets off the mark right away with a single. A run and a wicket from the over, and that will be all for today.

India crumble to 90/6 at stumps after yet another batting collapse, with Vihari and Pant batting on 5 and 1 respectively.

11:28 (IST)

BOWLED EM! Boult hits timber once again! This time gets rid of the nightwatchman Umesh Yadav as India lose their sixth wicket with less than 100 on board. Boult thinks it's stumps and prepares to collect his belongings from the umpire, only to be told that there will be a few more deliveries bowled today. IND 89/6

Umesh b Boult 1(12)

11:27 (IST)

After 35 overs,India 89/5 ( Umesh Yadav 1 , Hanuma Vihari 5)

Four off the over, with Vihari collecting his first boundary of the innings with a well-timed cut through the point region off the fourth delivery of the over.

11:26 (IST)

What is a good target?

11:25 (IST)

FOUR! A much-needed boundary to lift the Indian spirits after the flurry of wickets. Vihari gets on top of the bounce and cuts this through point. IND 89/5

11:23 (IST)

After 34 overs,India 85/5 ( Umesh Yadav 1 , Hanuma Vihari 1)

Boult delivers a body blow to the visitors by breaching Pujara's defence with a spectacular inswinger, rattling the stumps as the latter's innings comes to an end in the 88th delivery. Vihari walks out to bat next, with India's chances of posting 200 looking bleak now.

11:19 (IST)

OUT! Pujara's undone by a beauty from Boult, as he departs after putting up a stubborn resistance that had given the visitors hope of going past the 200-mark. The ball swung back in sharply, going through the batsman's defence with Pujara attempting to block this. IND 84/5

Pujara b Boult 24(88)

11:17 (IST)

After 33 overs,India 84/4 ( Cheteshwar Pujara 24 , Umesh Yadav 1)

Pujara clips the ball down the ground off the first delivery, and without much protection in that region, Jamieson has to give the ball a lengthy chase, allowing Pujara to set off for the non-striker's end. Umesh pulls behind square to get off the mark with a single. Pujara guides the ball behind square on the leg side off the penultimate delivery, coming back for a third as Boult cuts the ball in front of the boundary to save one run. Seven from the over.

11:16 (IST)

Rahane's scratchy innings finally comes to an end. He was literally struggling out there and was troubled by the short-pitched stuff. By the way, Umesh has been promoted up the order, probably as a night watchman. But there are quite a few overs still left in the day's play.

11:14 (IST)

After 32 overs,India 77/4 ( Cheteshwar Pujara 18 , Umesh Yadav 0)

Boult brought back in place of Jamieson now, with the Black Caps hoping to get rid of Pujara before close of play. Leg bye off the third delivery, followed by Umesh getting an thick inside edge off the last ball that deflects the ball towards the slip cordon for a dot. Just one from the over.

11:09 (IST)

After 31 overs,India 76/4 ( Cheteshwar Pujara 18 , Umesh Yadav 0)

Rahane's resistance finally comes to an end as he chops the ball onto the furniture off a delivery that stays a touch low. Out walks nightwatchman Umesh Yadav at No 6, the visitors hoping Rahane's exit is their last dismissal for the day. Four leg-byes, a single and a wicket from the over.

11:06 (IST)

OUT! Rahane's stay at the crease finally comes to an end as he ends up chopping the ball onto his stumps! Animated celebrations for Wagner! The batsman tried to pull this towards fine leg, but got an underedge thanks to the ball staying a touch low. IND 72/4

Rahane b Wagner 9(43)

11:04 (IST)

After 30 overs,India 71/3 ( Cheteshwar Pujara 17 , Ajinkya Rahane 9)

Jamieson switches to a round-the-wicket angle to Rahane for his back-of-length deliveries, and it nearly yields Rahane's wicket in the last delivery, with the ball ultimately falling short of backward point. Maiden over for Jamieson.

11:02 (IST)

After 29 overs,India 71/3 ( Cheteshwar Pujara 17 , Ajinkya Rahane 9)

Wagner continues to direct the short stuff at Rahane, who seems to have recovered from the blow and looks determined to withstand the trial by fire that he's going through at the moment. Just one from this over.

10:56 (IST)

After 28 overs,India 70/3 ( Cheteshwar Pujara 17 , Ajinkya Rahane 8)

Another nastly looking blow to Rahane on the helmet by a short delivery from Jamieson, and this time India physio Nitin Patel jogs out to the centre to do a quick check up. Pujara plays out the remainder of the over without setting off for a run.

10:55 (IST)

Wagner looks very frustrated out there. Perhaps coming into the attack as the fifth bowler has hurt his ego. Also, CDG dropped an easy catching opportunity off his bowling. Maybe it's time for Kane to have a quick chat with him.

10:49 (IST)

After 27 overs,India 69/3 ( Cheteshwar Pujara 17 , Ajinkya Rahane 8)

Rahane plays another ambitious shot after that mysterious pull towards deep square-leg, this time uppercutting the ball behind point with the ball landing just short of Blundell near the boundary, allowing him to set off for a single in the meantime.

10:42 (IST)

After 26 overs,India 68/3 ( Cheteshwar Pujara 17 , Ajinkya Rahane 7)

Rahane gloves a back-of-length delivery from Jamieson towards the fine leg fence for a boundary off the first delivery. Jamieson then responds with a series of snorters to test the Indian No 5 batsman, with the penultimate delivery hitting him on the helmet. Five from the over.

10:38 (IST)

FOUR! Back-of-length delivery from Jamieson going down leg, Rahane gloves this wide of the keeper to collect his first boundary. IND 67/3

10:37 (IST)

After 25 overs,India 63/3 ( Cheteshwar Pujara 17 , Ajinkya Rahane 3)

DROPPED! Rahane goes for a suicidal pull towards deep square-leg off a back-of-length delivery from Wagner, only for CdG to spill the chance while putting in a slide near the boundary rope. His teammates are in a state of disbelief after that drop, given his sharp fielding skills. Just two from this over.

10:34 (IST)

After 24 overs,India 61/3 ( Cheteshwar Pujara 17 , Ajinkya Rahane 2)

Jamieson's back in the attack, replacing de Grandhomme. A leg bye is all that's added to the Indian total in this over, with their lead now worth 68.

10:29 (IST)

After 23 overs,India 60/3 ( Cheteshwar Pujara 17 , Ajinkya Rahane 2)

Pujara and Rahane rotate the strike between themselves while Wagner continues to bowl a series of testing deliveries, including the odd bouncer or two, with three singles coming from this over.

10:24 (IST)

After 22 overs,India 57/3 ( Cheteshwar Pujara 15 , Ajinkya Rahane 1)

Rahane opens his account with a single off the first delivery after tapping the ball towards midwicket. Williamson's dive near mid off in the second delivery restricts Pujara to just a single. Two from the over.

10:21 (IST)

After 21 overs,India 55/3 ( Cheteshwar Pujara 14 , Ajinkya Rahane 0)

Wagner's brought in place of Jamieson now, and we can expect both Pujara and Rahane to be tested by a few short-pitched deliveries. Latham's at short leg, and he gets a tough chance in just the second delivery that ultimately goes begging, giving Pujara a reprieve on 14. Starts off with a maiden.

10:18 (IST)

After 20 overs,India 55/3 ( Cheteshwar Pujara 14 , Ajinkya Rahane 0)

Back-to-back maidens for de Grandhomme, with Rahane yet to get off the mark after facing 11 deliveries in his innings so far. India lead by 62 runs so far.

10:15 (IST)

‪Lowest average in a Test series for Virat Kohli: (2+ matches)‬

‪9.20 v Aus, 2017, India ‬
‪9.50 v NZ, 2020, New Zealand*‬
‪13.40 v Eng, 2014, England‬

10:15 (IST)

After 19 overs,India 55/3 ( Cheteshwar Pujara 14 , Ajinkya Rahane 0)

Pujara collects his second boundary of the innings with a drive down the ground past the diving mid off fielder to move to 14. Another 20 overs to be bowled in the day.

10:14 (IST)

There you go. CDG removes the big man. What a terrific bowler he is on these conditions! With nagging line and length, he tests both edges of the batsman. Slight lapse in concentration and he will get you. With four front-line pacers, he is the ideal back-up bowler to have for any captain.

10:11 (IST)

FOUR! Driven down the ground by Pujara, beating the mid off fielder diving to his right. IND 55/3

10:10 (IST)

After 18 overs,India 51/3 ( Cheteshwar Pujara 10 , Ajinkya Rahane 0)

It's a wicket-maiden for CdG as the all-rounder beats Kohli's inside edge and hits him on the front pad bang in front of middle to trap him leg-before for 14. Rahane's the next man in, and suddenly the prospect of going past 200 looks like a massive challenge.

10:09 (IST)

Least runs scored by Virat Kohli on a tour where he played in all the three formats:‬

‪218, New Zealand, 2020*‬
‪254, England, 2014

10:06 (IST)

OUT! Kohli's gone and the Black Caps definitely are on top at the moment! The ball nips back a tad and hits Kohli on the front pad bang in front of middle! And his tour of New Zealand ends in disappointment. Kohli decides against reviewing it on this occasion, given how apparent it was. IND 51/3

Kohli lbw de Grandhomme 14(30)

10:05 (IST)

After 17 overs,India 51/2 ( Cheteshwar Pujara 10 , Virat Kohli (C) 14)

Pujara sends Kohli back to the non-striker's end after working the ball towards mid on off the first delivery. Thereafter, it's mostly a series of leaves outside off as Jamieson walks away with his first maiden.

10:04 (IST)

Virat Kohli is shaping up well in this knock so far. After a few play and misses against Boult, a few crispy drives must have given him a lot of confidence. Unlike a few previous occasions, this time he is looking much more settled at the crease. Important innings this is for him and his team in the context of this series.

10:00 (IST)

After 16 overs,India 51/2 ( Cheteshwar Pujara 10 , Virat Kohli (C) 14)

Pujara works the ball behind square for a single off the first delivery of the over. Kohli plays a few drives down the ground, but is unable to set off for the non-striker's end thanks to some watertight fielding by the hosts.

09:58 (IST)

After 15 overs,India 50/2 ( Cheteshwar Pujara 9 , Virat Kohli (C) 14)

Kohli gets away with a loose shot in this over, his half-hearted uppercut sending the ball high in the air, landing near the vacant third man region, which brings up the fifty for the visitors. Given the delicacy of the situation, the Indian captain will hope to be a lot more careful going ahead.

09:54 (IST)

After 14 overs,India 48/2 ( Cheteshwar Pujara 9 , Virat Kohli (C) 12)

Change from both ends now, as Williamson brings De Grandhomme into the attack in place of Boult. The all-rounder starts his day with a maiden.

09:47 (IST)

After 13 overs,India 48/2 ( Cheteshwar Pujara 9 , Virat Kohli (C) 12)

First bowling change of the innings, with Kyle Jamieson coming into the attack in place of Tim Southee. He gets off to an expensive start however, conceding two boundaries to Kohli off the first four balls. Time for the players to have a drink now.

09:46 (IST)

FOUR! Another boundary for the Indian captain in Jamieson's first over of the day, this time playing with soft hands while keeping the ball low to place it wide of third slip. IND 48/2

09:45 (IST)

FOUR! Kohli steers the full, wide delivery from Jamieson through point to collect the second boundary of his innings, beating the fielder diving to his right. IND 44/2

09:43 (IST)

After 12 overs,India 40/2 ( Cheteshwar Pujara 9 , Virat Kohli (C) 4)

Boult bowls out his second maiden of the innings, with Pujara decide to poke the ball around sans the intent to score a run.

09:39 (IST)

After 11 overs,India 40/2 ( Cheteshwar Pujara 9 , Virat Kohli (C) 4)

The Indian skipper gets off the mark in style with a delicious drive through the midwicket region off the penultimate delivery of the over to get off the mark off the 11th delivery that he faces.

09:38 (IST)

FOUR! Superbly-timed on-drive by Kohli off Southee, maintaining perfect balance while leaning forward and playing on the up. IND 40/2

09:35 (IST)

After 10 overs,India 35/2 ( Cheteshwar Pujara 8 , Virat Kohli (C) 0)

Boult maintains an attacking line while bowling to Kohli, the ball whistling past his outside edge on a couple of occasions. The left-arm pacer though, sprays one down the leg side off the final delivery, the ball beating the diving keeper to run away for four byes.

09:32 (IST)

So the short-ball strategy has worked for the Kiwis straightway. Shaw was probably expecting the surprise delivery from Boult but not from Southee and clearly he was late on that hook shot. Meanwhile, at the other end, for Boult they have already placed a short square leg at a catching position. So, more of those bumpers are on their way I guess.

09:31 (IST)

After 9 overs,India 31/2 ( Cheteshwar Pujara 8 , Virat Kohli (C) 0)

Another major blow for the Indians as attacking opening batsman Shaw departs after getting into a tangle, lobbing the ball to Latham in the slips to depart for 14. Latest Updates, 2nd Test, Day 2 India vs New Zealand: Boult rattles the stumps with a vicious inswinger once again, this time dismissing Yadav for 1 with India losing their sixth wicket in the process. Out walks Rishabh Pant at No 8, and he gets off the mark right away with a single. A run and a wicket from the over, and that will be all for today.India crumble to 90/6 at stumps after yet another batting collapse, with Vihari and Pant batting on 5 and 1 respectively.

Day 1 report: Jamieson took five for 45 as New Zealand dismissed India for 242 after tea on day one of the second and final Test on Saturday before consolidating their advantage by reaching the close of play on 63 without loss.

Playing only his second Test after making his debut in the 10-wicket victory in Wellington last week, the tall right-armer wreaked havoc in India’s lower order as the tourists lost their last five wickets for 45 runs after the second break.

Jamieson, enjoying some of the luck that had evaded him earlier in the day, claimed four of those wickets after starting with Cheteshwar Pujara, who had threatened to guide the tourists to a more than competitive total.

Pujara, picking his shots with the care of a player who knew how important his innings would be, ground out a 25th test half century and enjoyed a partnership of 81 with Hanuma Vihari that had India looking comfortable at 194-4 just before tea.

Vihari gloved behind for 55 to bring up the break, however, and Pujara was gone for 54 two overs after the resumption when he abandoned his circumspection and skied an attempted hook that wicketkeeper BJ Watling took with ease.

“It was a wrong time to get out obviously, just before tea,” Vihari told reporters. “I was batting positively, I thought I played one shot too many.

“But that’s the name of the game, sometimes it goes your way and sometimes it doesn’t.”

Jamieson then removed Rishabh Pant, Umesh Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja in short order and left Trent Boult to mop up the final wicket by bowling Mohammed Shami for 12.

“It’s a pretty special feeling,” Jamieson said after carrying the ball off the field.

“I think as a bowling unit we did so well and I was lucky to grab a few. At one stage I thought they were probably going to get a few more, (the wicket) wasn’t doing quite as much as it did in Wellington, so to keep them to 240 is pretty good.”

The day started poorly for the tourists when New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson won the toss and sent his five-pronged seam attack out to bowl on a green track.

Opener Prithvi Shaw provided the first bright moments of the day for the Indian supporters with a quickfire half century in the rain-delayed first session that presented a stark contrast to what was to come from Pujara.

Jamieson dismissed the 20-year-old caught behind for 54, though, and his opening partner Mayank Agarwal (7) was also sent back before the first break.

Skipper Virat Kohli’s batting woes continued as he was trapped plumb in front by Tim Southee for three from the first ball he faced after lunch to take his tally to a paltry 24 from his three innings in the series.

New Zealand openers Tom Latham, who was unbeaten on 27, and Tom Blundell (29 not out) successfully negotiated 23 overs until stumps and will resume on Sunday looking to cut deep into India’s 179-run lead.

Drug testing programs on mainland China were halted on 3 February following the outbreak of the virus. WADA said drug testing would resume in the week of 24 February on a "phased basis" with priority given to testing elite level athletes from higher-risk categories and sports. WADA emphasised that while CHINADA (China Anti-Doping Agency)operations were suspended testing on Chinese athletes training and competing outside their country continued with more than 1,200 tests conducted.

Dick Pound, the longest-serving member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), estimates there's a three-month window to decide the fate of the Tokyo Olympics. He said that if it proves too dangerous to hold the Olympics in Tokyo this summer, organisers are more likely to cancel it altogether than to postpone or move it. Pound has been an IOC member since 1978, 13 years longer than current President Thomas Bach.

Australian swimming great Ian Thorpe says athletes should not put their Olympic dreams before their health in deciding whether to compete at the Tokyo Games.

“There will not be one bit of change in holding the Games as planned,” Katsura Enyo, deputy director general of the Tokyo 2020 Preparation Bureau at the city government. “We are not even thinking of when or in what contingency we might decide things. There is no thought of change at all in my mind,” she said.

Forensic movie review: Tovino Thomas-Mamtha Mohandas starrer is clever till it gets too clever by half

Language: Malayalam

Rithika Xavier (Mamtha Mohandas) is heading a police team investigating a child's murder in Thiruvananthapuram when she realises she has a serial killer on her hands. Samuel John Kattukkaran (Tovino Thomas), the forensic scientist assigned to her, is a genius with a reputation for overreach. He has an old personal connection with Rithika.

From the moment Sam enters the picture, from the treatment and presentation of the character in his very first minutes on screen, we know it is he who will crack the case. Scenes are set up with the obvious intent of giving him an opportunity to prove his smartness. At first he patronises his junior colleague and throughout outshines the senior to whom he reports - both of them women, marking the token female presence so common in Malayalam cop sagas while men go about actually solving the crime/s at hand.

A still from Forensic. YouTube

Perhaps the only thing left was for Sam to wear a headband saying: "designated hero of the film." Subtlety, you see, is not the forte of this crime thriller directed by Akhil Paul and Anas Khan. If you are willing to forgive Forensic its many venial sins on this front - since they are silly but never offensive in the way a certain kind of loud, misogynistic, male-star-driven Mollywood cinema is - you might enjoy this harmless crime drama up to a point, as I did.

Until the last half hour or so when the killer is unveiled and motivations revealed, Forensic's deductions are impressive enough and related in an easy enough fashion to make the film an entertaining ride. Sure, the background score should have been played down. Sure, several scenes are awkwardly constructed to pointlessly over-emphasise a point, but well, no one is saying Forensic is great art. Sure, an arrest made by Rithika in an old case recounted in the present was senseless, but that can be put down to standard police inefficiency, even if it seems inconsistent with the portrayal of Rithika. Sure, little thought has gone into two scenes of arrests when the police bring their suspects out in public with faces uncovered knowing that crowds are present outside. Sure, it is hard to believe that so many little girls were lured away by a charmless criminal. Sure all the above are true, but until that last half hour, Sam's work sustains the film.

I am not certain any Indian state police department has the facilities that Sam and his associate Shikha (Reba Monica John) have at their disposal - maybe they do, maybe they don't, I am just wondering based on news reports and conversations with actual personnel that reveal how cripplingly ill-equipped police forces are in India. However, drawing on those very discussions, it does seem possible that a single Indian investigator might indeed have to be a Jack of all specialities within forensics, as Sam is shown to be in this film, due to a lack of available trained humanpower (far removed from the ultra-super-superspecialties I have been discovering through the addictive American real-life-crime series Forensic Files I have lately been binge-watching on Netflix). Either way, Sam is smart enough and his logic roughly convincing enough to a layperson for his investigation process to be engaging.

Then the perpetrator is revealed, the identity is indeed unexpected, but Forensic sinks itself in the person's convoluted, complicated, uninspiring back story. What made the recent release Anjaam Pathiraa so unforgettable was the heartbreaking crime that motivated its serial killer's spree, the plausibility of the murder plan, the performances of the charismatic actors in that tragic back story and those bringing it to its present-day conclusion, plus the film's insight into Kerala politics and society. In contrast, the reasons for the commission of the horrible crimes in Forensic are drowning in contrivances. Layer upon layer seems to have been added with the sole purpose of throwing in more surprises, except that they are not particularly meaningful or interesting. And since the audience has not been given an opportunity to be emotionally invested in the killer - either to be sympathetic or repulsed - it all adds up to a damp squib.

The finale of this film is suicidal, trying too hard to be clever and ending up being too clever by half.

This was really unnecessary, because Forensic is passable entertainment till then and some of the earlier unfolding twists are not half bad. It also has Thomas and Mohandas' likeable personalities going for it and the actors' comfort with their characters' professions, Renji Panicker in a nice turn as a retired police official, an occasional sense of humour in the screenplay, the fact that it does not take the male protagonist down a conventional path of romance in the way most commercial Malayalam films do, and the other fact that he is not obnoxiously macho as so many leading men are in formulaic Mollywood police sagas.

But what is a crime thriller if its central criminal is dull? The answer to that question is a summation of what Forensic has to offer.

Spotify’s first year in India: 365 days of legal disputes, listenership growth and lingering questions

Spotify India turned one on 27 February. I don’t think a week has gone over the last year that the world’s most popular audio streaming service hasn’t been mentioned in the local press. While a fair amount of the coverage has been about its now settled, long-running dispute with Warner/Chappell, a lot of it has been related to the listenership statistics that the platform has regularly shared with music and tech reporters.

For instance, just a couple of days ago Spotify told us that, based on data from the past 12 months, its users in Goa mostly listen to international music, those in Gujarat mainly play Bollywood and those in the Northeast Indian states love K-Pop more than the rest of the country.

Representational image. Reuters

What Spotify hasn’t shared with us is the number of listeners they have in India. It’s been almost a year since they revealed that they have more than two million users in the country back in April 2019.

Conversations within the industry suggest that while Spotify may have some catching up to do with market leaders such as Gaana and JioSaavn, both of which claim to have monthly active users in the region of over 150 million, it has the highest engagement among all the streaming platforms operating here.

This has been validated by a recent survey, conducted by consultancy firm Kantar and audience measurement and analytics company VTION, of over 9,000 smartphone users in nine Indian cities. As per their findings, though Spotify has a 15 percent share of the audio streaming market, behind Gaana (30 percent) and JioSaavn (24 percent), its users spend more time on the service than those on other DSPs. Spotify’s listeners clock in 86 minutes every day, which is 35 percent more than people do on Gaana (63 minutes) and almost double the time consumed by those on JioSaavn (49 minutes).

Notably, the study pegs the total size of the audio OTT market at just 13 million. Now of course, most platforms will tell you a survey of only smartphone users in just nine cities doesn’t show the real picture. Spotify for instance has been streamed in 2,300 cities since launch, as they highlighted in their blog post to mark their first anniversary.

For an estimate of how much Spotify has grown and how its listenership has evolved, I looked to – what else but? – its weekly charts. The first No.1 proper (not counting the first week) was 'Sucker' by Jonas Brothers, which was streamed over 4.6 lakh times during the first week of March 2019. In comparison, the current No.1 'Shayad' from Love Aaj Kal (2020) was played over a million times over the last week.

Listenership seems to have got a boost in June 2019 after which, during most weeks Spotify India’s chart-topping track has crossed a million streams. The first tune to achieve this milestone was 'Senorita' by Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello, which did it for 11 non-consecutive weeks.

But the song, which was the most streamed track of 2019 and the only non-Indian one in its year-end top ten, seems to have been an outlier. Every single to reach No.1 after it has been a Hindi film or pop smash: 'Pachtaoge' by Arijit Singh, B. Praak and Jaani; 'Ghungroo' by Singh, Shilpa Rao and Vishal-Shekhar from War; 'Filhall' by B. Praak and Jaani; Tanishk Bagchi’s remixes of A. R. Rahman’s 'Muqabla' and Garry Sandhu and Jasmine Sandlas’s 'Illegal Weapon', both from Street Dancer 3D; and the aforementioned 'Shayad'.

And even though the service was largely known only among English music consumers before it officially arrived in India, the top five most streamed acts on Spotify since launch are all Bollywood biggies who occasionally or regularly dabble in pop: Singh, Bagchi, Neha Kakkar, Badshah and Shreya Ghoshal. Quite naturally, as the platform has adopted by more users across the country, the amount of local content being streamed has increased.

Clearly, the crores the company spent on its award-winning hyper-local outdoor advertising campaign and television commercials have started to pay off in the form of a pan-India presence, even if the total number of users isn’t quite close to those of its biggest rivals. Incumbent No.1 'Shayad' has been streamed over 5.5 million times on the app as compared to the more than 20 million plays it has on JioSaavn and Gaana.

Of course, the audience expansion has also come at the cost of offering the service at some of the lowest prices in the world, and they’re still not the cheapest in the business. A monthly subscription is presently priced at Rs 119, which is on par with JioSaavn, Wynk Music and Resso but more expensive than Gaana, Apple Music and Hungama’s tag of Rs 99.

Moreover, some of Spotify’s challenges remain unresolved. International music fans are still waiting for Warner Music’s catalogue to appear on the platform. Plus, Spotify is yet to sign a deal with Saregama, which owns the rights to many classic Bollywood soundtracks. Until then, we will have to do without hearing the likes of Ed Sheeran’s 'Shape Of You' or the Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge OST on the service.

We’re also hoping to see Spotify implement its international initiatives here like they did in December when they launched a series of original Indian podcasts. It would be great if they worked more closely with Indian independent music artists, something that has helped both JioSaavn and Apple Music distinguish their offerings.

While the kind of deep data Spotify For Artists provides has helped musicians across the board know exactly where their fans are located and which songs they love the most, thus far Spotify’s editorial involvement in the Indian indie scene has been limited to playlists. When will they bring to us a local line of Spotify Singles? Hopefully we’ll have answers to this and the other question marks that surround Spotify.

This week, I listened into a compilation that musically encapsulates a lot of the emotions many of us have been feeling over the last couple of months and especially during the last week, which has been filled with devastating daily reports of communal violence in Delhi. Revolutions is a “mixtape” of recently released protest songs from around the country, put together by podcaster Mae Thomas for her long-running Indian independent music show Maed In India. It includes such searing tracks as 'Krantikari' by Kolkata hip-hop group Park Circus, 'The Police?' by Delhi-based Assamese singer-rapper Rahul Rajkhowa, and 'Acche Din Blues' by Bihar-born, Mumbai-residing poet-activist Aamir Aziz whose 'Sab Yaad Rakha Jayega' has become one of the main anthems of the ongoing protests against the CAA and NRC, the attacks on students in Jamia, JNU and AMU and the recent atrocities in the capital.
