Ravichandran Ashwin returned to India’s ODI XI after over 20 months as India opted to bowl first in the first ODI against Australia at Mohali on Friday.

Ashwin’s last ODI before the Mohali game had come against South Africa in January 2022 in Paarl.
Ruturaj Gaikwad was included as an opener by India, while Shreyas Iyer who missed the last few games in Asia Cup 2023 due to back spasms also made a return.
KL Rahul is captaining India as Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya have been rested for the first two ODIs of the three-match series along with Virat Kohli.
As confirmed by Pat Cummins on Thursday, he made a return to the ODI side for Australia along with Steve Smith. The duo had missed the South Africa tour due to wrist injuries.
