Suryakumar Yadav was in superb form in the T20I series and struck a century in the third game which was followed by a brilliant spell by the bowlers as India thrashed South Africa by 106 runs at Wanderers, Johannesburg on Thursday (December 14).
There was one point during this innings when Surya was struggling at 27 runs from 25 balls, but he pressed on the accelerator towards the latter part of the innings, unleashing an assault on South Africa by amassing 73 runs in the next 31 balls. His innings powered India to a total of 201/7.
This result saw the T20I series concluding 1-1.
The contrasting conditions of the day-night encounter were quite evident in the third T20I as India piled up runs under the sunny conditions, but the Indian bowlers found plenty of help under the lights – especially with the new ball.
India are now getting ready for the upcoming three-match ODI series against South Africa which starts on Sunday. For India, KL Rahul will take over the captaincy from Surya as India try to build some momentum ahead of the Test series.
