India vs South Africa: Suryakumar Yadav-led side arrive in Durban ahead of T20I series; Watch

The Indian cricket team led by Suryakumar Yadav landed in Durban on Thursday ahead of the T20I series. The Men in Blue landed at the airport in the wee hours of Thursday and received a warm welcome as fans cheered them. In a video shared by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on social media platform X, formerly Twitter, the players can be seen wholeheartedly cheered by fans as they also posed for selfies. “South Africa bound Team India are here,” read the caption of the post shared by BCCI.

The hotel staff, who were dressed in traditional Indian attire, welcomed the cricketers in a desi-style. In the post, the players can be seen coming out of the airport as fans gathered in large numbers to welcome them. The clip also shared a glimpse of Team India’s journey to the hotel, where they were greeted warmly.

Team India will be playing three T20Is followed by as many ODIs and two Test matches against South Africa. The tour will commence with the first T20I in Durban on Sunday (10 December). The second and third T20Is will be played on 12 December and 14 December respectively.

The upcoming series acts as a crucial buildup ahead of the 2024 T20 World Cup slated to be held in West Indies and USA next June. India’s tour of South Africa India will be followed by a three-match T20I series against Afghanistan in January at home.

It is pertinent to note that the T20I, ODI, and Test series in South Africa will be quite interesting as many young players will be showcasing their talent and presenting the potential future of the side. Ever since the ODI World Cup, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have not been a part of India’s white-ball squads but the duo will feature in the Test series against Proteas with Rohit captaining the side.

India will have three different captains for the tour. While Suryakumar Yadav, who led the Men in Blue to a T20I series win over Australia, will once again lead the T20I side in South Africa, KL Rahul and Rohit will captain India in ODIs and Tests respectively.
