Candice Warner delivered a succinct yet powerful response to Mitchell Johnson after her husband David Warner’s superb performance on Day 1 of the Perth Test against Pakistan. With a superb ton, Warner effectively silenced criticism directed at him, especially by Mitchell Johnson.
Leading up to the first Test against Pakistan in Perth, Johnson escalated his criticism of Warner and even questioned his worthiness of a farewell match this summer at the Sydney Cricket Ground owing to perceived poor performances and his involvement in the sandpaper scandal. However, David Warner responded emphatically by scoring a century on the opening day at Optus Stadium in Perth and putting Australia in the driver’s seat.
Taking to X (formerly known as Twitter), Candice seized the opportunity to take a swipe at Johnson as she posted a ‘shush’ emoji in a direct response to the former fast bowler.

Warner too celebrated emphatically when he reached triple figures and could well have sent a message to Johnson as well as other critics. He spoke with Adam Gilchrist during the tea break and said that the best possible way to respond to critics was through runs.

Speaking to Adam Gilchrist, he said, “There is going to be criticism, but you have got to take that and there is no better way to silence it than to put runs on the board.”
Former England captain Michael Vaughan too supported David Warner before the opening day’s play.
‘He’s one of the greats. I don’t understand why people aren’t talking about him being a great player,’ Vaughan told Fox Cricket.
On Day 2, Mitchell Marsh missed out on scoring a century but Australia posted a massive 487 in first innings.
