"Allah'r opor bishash rakh" goes Bangladeshi keeper Nurul Hasan from behind the stumps, encouraging his teammates to have faith in the Almighty and to believe in themselves as Bangladesh are off to a dream start in their defence of the 145-run target. Bangladeshi skipper Shakib, meanwhile, reverts to spin from both ends, bringing Taijul in to replace Taskin, who is taken off after just one over. Axar, meanwhile, has his eye set in at the moment and is batting on 16.

Another 8 overs left to be bowled in the day's play. Bangladesh will try and sneak in one more wicket from here.

FOUR! Axar rocks back and smacks a short-of-length ball from Shakib through the covers to collect his first boundary of the innings! He's quite handy with the bat, and this shot reinforces just that. He collects a single later in the over to keep the scoreboard ticking.

Earlier Shakib bowled a zooter to Gill in his previous over which struck him on the pad between middle and leg and elicited another loud appeal from the home team, one that is turned down by the umpire.

He has Pujara for company at the moment; the two had forged a match-defining partnership at Chattogram earlier in the tour, and will hope to do an encore here.

Superb counter-attacking knock from Litton Das, who forged valuable partnerships with Nurul Hasan and Taskin Ahmed to guide Bangladesh past the 200-mark and set a target close to 150.

Litton might just have given the Bangladeshi attack enough to work with. An early wicket or two, especially with the way KL dishing out one low score after another, and we could be in for a thriller!

Siraj successfully appeals for LBW against Taskin in the penultimate ball of the 65th, and Litton urges him to take the review soon as the umpire raises his finger. And sure enough, the ball was pitching well outside leg. India desperate for a breakthrough at the moment.

Bangladesh, meanwhile, will be hoping to get their lead as close to 200 as possible from here and that should come as a major boost to the morale of their attack.

Three balls later, it lands just short of Kohli although the Indians make a subdued appeal for a catch. The on-field umpires take this upstairs with soft-signal 'Not Out', and sure enough, it falls well short of Kohli's palms.

The Tigers have now stretched their lead to 70 with four wickets still in hand, with the Litton-Nurul partnership proving quite handy at the moment.

Their lead has also gone past the 50-mark now.

India will hope to show him the exit sign early in the session while Zakir's presence is crucial to the hosts' hopes of finishing level with KL Rahul and Co.

Day 2 report: Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer rescued India from a shaky position with a defiant partnership to put the visitors in the lead on Day 2 of the second Test against Bangladesh in Dhaka.

Pant (93) and Iyer (87) put on 159 for the fifth wicket after the Indians were reduced to 94/4 following the exit of Virat Kohli, who was dismissed for 24 off Taskin Ahmed’s bowling. The fifth-wicket pair’s counterattacking partnership not only helped put the Bangla Tigers under pressure, it ended up guiding the team past the opposition’s score and into the lead.

Both batters, however, missed out on their centuries, with Pant falling just seven short as off-spinner broke the partnership in the evening session on Friday.

Star all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan, who was picked up by the Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL auction that took place in Kochi on the same day, later collected four of the remaining five wickets — including that of Iyer — as India lost their last six wickets for just 61 runs, getting bundled out for 314.

Bangladesh openers Najmul Hossain Shanto and Zakir Hasan then safely negotiated the remaining six overs of the day’s play, ensuring the hosts didn’t lose an early wicket, reaching 7/0 at the close of play.
